FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – PET FIXERS SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM TO BE ACQUIRED BY GREAT RIVER RESCUE
BEMIDJI, DECEMBER 2, 2019 – Pet Fixers, a nonprofit spay/neuter assistance program, has announced that the organization will be turned over to Great River Rescue. The two organizations are currently in the process of transferring equipment, technical knowledge, and all other assets including the Pet Fixers spay/neuter trailer with the goal of completion by early 2020. Great River Rescue will continue providing low-cost spay/neuter services to low-income residents in the region as Pet Fixers has done for the last seven years. Pet Fixers Board Members will work alongside Great River Rescue staff and volunteers to ensure a smooth transition and high level of service to the community.
Pet Fixers has spayed/neutered 4,292 pets and feral cats since inception in July of 2012 with the goal of preventing pet overpopulation. Meanwhile, Great River Rescue is the primary animal adoption and rescue center for dogs and cats in Bemidji. With both organizations working to save companion animals and provide animal welfare related services to the community, Pet Fixers naturally turned to Great River Rescue to continue the spay/neuter service for Bemidji and the surrounding area.
“Ultimately, we wanted to keep this service local,” said Pet Fixers Board Chair Paul Yule. “We’ve worked with the staff and Board of Great River Rescue for years and trust that they will continue to increase the positive impact that Pet Fixers has had on our community.”
“We are humbled and excited,” stated Great River Rescue Executive Director Brandon Mustful. “I have been amazed at what Pet Fixers has been able to accomplish, but know that together, we can do even more to save companion animals, and provide important services that people in this area need.”
Eight spay/neuter clinics are currently planned for 2020. Dates, locations, registration information and other details will be released at a later date. Questions about spay/neuter services can be directed to Great River Rescue at 751-7910 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
